How much does it cost?
Projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis and we provide a detailed cost breakdown before we start work. Typically a 20-30% deposit is required to begin work, with the remaining balance payable upon completion.
How long does a project take to complete?
Product development and prototyping durations vary based on the complexity and depth of the individual project. Before work begins, we engage in detailed discussion with you to set clear expectations regarding time scale and project goals.
How long does 3D printing take?
We offer a range of 3D printing services, from one-off prints to short-run manufacturing. Turnaround times are agreed upon before printing begins, and our express service can deliver in as little as 48 hours.
Do you sign confidentiality agreements?
Yes. It is very important to us that your intellectual property is protected, and all projects are completed with strict levels of confidentiality.
Who retains ownership of the design?
Once the work is fully paid for, the ownership of the design is entirely yours.
Do I have to be local to work with you?
No, we work with clients based all around the UK via email, phone, Zoom and Google Meets. Our manufacturing facilities are based in Sheffield, UK and we are happy to facilitate in-person visits on request.
How much input do I have on the design process?
A lot! Your input and feedback is crucial to the product design process. We ask a lot of questions about your needs and wants, and work with you to develop a great solution to meet your requirements. We ask for regular feedback during the design process and we are always honest with you about any issues we foresee with your project.
Are you able to build prototypes?
Making physical prototypes is at the core of what we do at Luft. We offer both mechanically functional and aesthetic prototypes based on your individual needs.
Can you manufacture my product?
We are a design company not a manufacturer. However, we do offer a short-run 3D printing service for projects where this is an appropriate manufacturing technique. For larger scale manufacturing, we are able to put you in contact with a variety of local and international contract manufacturers best suited to your project.
Can you assist with patents?
We do not offer patent writing or filing services. However, we can put you in touch with trusted companies we have worked with in the past.
